Highlights of Did I Relapse?

Did I relapse personally on my journey with alcohol? It’s a question that gets posed to Annie Grace pretty often. Today she shares:

  • Fear and Lack of Faith in Myself – Annie struggled with fear and a lack of faith in herself when trying to quit alcohol. She believed quitting would mean missing out on life and living a subpar life. She also didn’t believe she had the willpower to follow through.
  • The Unconscious Mind – Annie discovered the power of the unconscious mind in changing her perception of alcohol. Our unconscious mind can store negative emotions as physical pain. By understanding this, we can rewire our unconscious mind to no longer crave alcohol.
  • Did I Relapse Personally? – Annie shares that she made a conscious decision to drink after a period of not drinking. This experience helped her solidify her decision to quit because it showed her how bad alcohol truly made her feel. She has not drank since, but acknowledges that addiction is a journey and missteps can happen.
  • The Alcohol Monster – Annie uses the metaphor of an “alcohol monster” to describe the cravings and negativity associated with alcohol use. Relapsing can make the alcohol monster stronger. However, even if a relapse happens, it doesn’t mean the war against addiction is lost.
