Mulled Apple Cider and Sparkling Apple Cider
Apple Cider just screams the holidays, doesn’t it? Luckily it is just as amazing as an alcohol free version. We add orange and ginger to give it an extra kick. As a bonus we have added how to make a sparkling version that you can enjoy on New Year’s Eve as well!
8 cups unpasteurized apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
10 whole cloves
1 navel orange, peeled and sliced
2-inch piece of peeled fresh ginger, cut into 6 slices
Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes. Or place ingredients in crockpot and cook on high until warm.
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a heat-proof pitcher and serve warm. Serves 8.
Sparkling Apple Cider
This allows you to use up your leftover cider for New Year’s!
1 1/2 cups leftover mulled apple cider (These will be frozen into ice cubes ahead of time.)
1 cup sparkling apple cider
1 cup club soda
Pour leftover mulled cider into ice cube trays and freeze.
Allow at least three hours for this.
Fill two glasses with mulled cider cubes.
Add 1/2 cup sparkling apple cider to each glass, fill remainder with club soda. Serves 2.
Coquito – Coconut Eggnog
A taste of the tropics can take your eggnog to a brand new level! You get to indulge without a hangover later! You’ll be full of holiday cheer without the spirits for sure!
2 12 oz cans evaporated milk
1 15 oz can cream of coconut
1 13.5 oz can coconut milk
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Combine evaporated milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and ground cinnamon in a blender.
Blend on high for 1-2 minutes.
Transfer coconut mixture into bottle or pitcher and cover.
Chill in refrigerator until cold. Stir or shake well before serving.
You can garnish glasses with ground cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, cranberries or candy canes. Serves 8.
Sleigh Driver Christmas Punch
It’s inevitable that the holiday season includes a punch bowl that usually is spiked. You can fill everyone with holiday cheer without the spirits with this Sleigh Driver punch recipe!
1 cup water
½ cup sugar
1 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
3 pears, chopped into bite-size pieces
8 cups apple cider
1 lemon halved and sliced
1 tablespoon ground allspice
1 cup fresh cranberries
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Combine water, sugar, ginger and 1 pear in a large saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Strain mixture and return liquid to pan.
Add the remaining pears, cider, lemon and allspice to pan and continue to heat over medium-high heat, stirring often, for 15 minutes.
Now add the cranberries and vanilla and reduce the heat to low. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
You can keep warm in a crock pot.
Alcohol Free Irish Coffee
Irish coffee is popular as a dessert option after Christmas dinner. Luckily it’s easy to make authentic tasting Irish coffee without using any spirits at all!
Glass mug with handle
6 ounces brewed black coffee
2 teaspoons sugar , or to taste
2 tablespoons Irish Cream Syrup like Torani or Monin
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Whipped Cream and chocolate shavings for garnish
Fill the mug with hot water and let stand 2 to 3 minutes.
Hold a spoon upside down over the mug and slowly pour the cream over the spoon,
Apple Cider Mimosa
Are you wondering what you’ll drink on New Year’s? This apple cider mimosa is brimming with holiday cheer without the spirits. Using only two ingredients, it’s easy enough to make ahead and bring with you if needed!
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup sparkling apple cider
Slightly tilt Champagne flute and slowly pour chilled sparkling apple cider.
Wait for the bubbles to disappear on the top.
Add chilled orange juice.
Garnish with orange slices. Serves 1.
