Joanne Hooker

CERTIFIED NAKED MIND COACH

Coach Joanne is passionate about helping others to achieve their goals and overcome obstacles. After several years in the corporate world, raising a family, and extensive volunteering for voting rights and LGBTQ+ causes, Joanne became a certified This Naked Mind Coach in 2023. In her practice, she helps clients leave behind the shame and blame of destructive behaviors and achieve newfound freedom and self-worth.

Joanne’s coaching practice has a particular focus on disordered eating. Her path to this point was long and winding, from childhood in Vermont, where she competitively ski raced and played field hockey and tennis, to college and business school, then career, marriage, and family. Although outwardly successful and living a charmed life, she often relied on food to cope with uncomfortable feelings. Of course, binge eating, done in secret, was only ever a band-aid that served to numb her emotions and would inevitably leave her feeling ashamed, alone, and powerless to change.

Joanne found This Naked Mind while looking for help to get through a two-week isolation in rural Quebec early in the pandemic. Beginning with the Alcohol Experiment and 100 Days of Lasting Change, Joanne found the combination of honesty and vulnerability of the TNM approach to be the most effective she had encountered in more than 40 years, and the elements of success in dealing with her harmful patterns began to take shape.

Joanne shared her truth about her decades-long eating disorder while on the Path, and, working with a coach, began to uncover and dismantle the false beliefs that had kept her stuck for so long. She has been free from alcohol since September of 2021 and from binge eating since April of 2022. Inspired to share the freedom and liberation from overcoming self-destructive patterns with others, she then trained to become a coach herself. Let Joanne help guide you to overcome the limitations that hold you back from living your best life.
