5 Drinks for National Mocktail Week

Chocolate Cherry Mocktini

January kicks off with Chocolate Cherry Day on the 3rd. While that date may have passed, there’s no reason not to indulge in the delicious flavors of that day!

Make our tasty chocolate cherry mocktini and enjoy all the indulgence you crave while sticking to your boundaries! This recipe makes two drinks so you can share if you’d like (but we won’t tell if you don’t!).

Ingredients:

1 pack hot chocolate mix

6 oz heavy cream, half and half, or whole milk

4 oz water

1/2 cup glace cherries (include some of the liquid with these!)

3-4 drops almond extract

Cocktail cherries, chocolate syrup, and turbinado sugar for garnish

ice

Directions:

Combine your water, glace cherries, almond extract, and hot chocolate mix in a blender and mix until well blended.

Strain the mixture through a metal sieve into a cocktail shaker to remove any cherry pieces. Add the heavy cream, half and half, or milk and ice to the cocktail shaker and shake to combine.

Use a paintbrush to paint the rims of two martini glasses with chocolate syrup. Place sugar on a deep plate and dip the glasses in the sugar. Swirl additional chocolate syrup in the glasses. Strain the chocolate mixture between the two glasses. Garnish with cocktail cherries.

Apple and Apricot Delight

January is also designated as Apple and Apricots Month (along with Artichoke and Asparagus Month but we spared you a drink combo using those flavors!). Apples and apricots complement each other amazingly well in this refreshing new drink you can try for National Mocktail Week (or any time you desire!).

To craft an Apple and Apricot Delight you’ll need –

Ingredients:

1 quart apple cider, sparkling apple cider, or apple juice

2 cups apricot nectar

1/2 cup lime juice

apple sparkling water

ice

Directions:

Combine cider or juice, apricot nectar, and lime juice in a pitcher.

Fill tall glasses with ice cubes and fill about 3/4. Top off with sparkling water.

Masala Mocktail

January 11 has earned the moniker of Hot Toddy Day while January 12 is Hot Tea Day. Both happen to fall during National Mocktail Week!

We decided to combine the two to bring you this warm treat that can celebrate any occasion without regrets!

Combining Masala Chai tea with warm apple cider creates a unique and oh-so-indulgent flavor profile you’ll grow to love!

Ingredients:

2 cups apple cider

1 Masala spice chai tea bag or Masala Spice loose-leaf tea

1 tsp honey

lemon quarters

1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

Bring the apple cider almost to a boil. If using loose tea, add the loose tea and brew over heat for one minute. Remove from heat and steep for an additional minute.

If using a tea bag, remove the cider from the heat, and add a tea bag. Steep 4 minutes.

While the tea is steeping, combine the honey and a few squeezes of the lemon wedges in a mug.

Now you can strain the tea and spices if using loose-leaf tea, or remove the tea bag, and pour into the mug. Use a cinnamon stick as garnish and to stir the tea.

Frozen Gummy Bear Slushie

Oddly enough, January is also home to National Candy Month. I would have guessed October would hold that title but hey, I learned something new!

Most of us find ourselves drawn to sugar when we stop drinking alcohol and I was the same way. In fact, I ate a ridiculous amount of gummy bears for the first few months I was alcohol-free. If you’re looking to sweeten your National Mocktail Week, try this Gummy Bear Slushie!

Gummi Bears (for garnish)
